Anglesea Roo Run
Enter Now

Monday 27th December 2021
Welcome Back

After a year off we have decided to once again hold the Roo Run in 2021. The event may not look like previous years, but we wanted to do something to welcome everyone back to the Surf Coast and Anglesea.

We will be running under a Covid Safe Plan and due to the late notice to allow the event to proceed we will not be able to provide T-shirts or race packs this year - hopefully we'll make it up to you next year.

So whether you’re a seasoned campaigner, a weekend jogger, social walker or just starting out your running career, the Roo Run and Anglesea and District Community Bank Grommet Gallop and Starfish Nippers run offers something for everyone in one of the most scenic locations you could imagine.

EVENT DETAILS
  • The 8km Roo Run - Our main individual event for both elite runners and those runners fit enough to strive for that 8km PB!
  • The 4km Roo Run - Not to be underestimated, the 4km run takes in the beautiful scenery along this amazing course.

  • The 2XRoo - This is an individual entry where participants will enter and participate in both the 4km and 8km Roo Run.  The winner will be the entrant who records the best combined time.
  • The Surf n Turf - The ultimate challenge. Can runners swim? Can swimmers run? In conjunction with the Anglesea Surf Life Saving Club this event combines the best male and female times over the 8km Roo Run and the 1.2km Rock 2 Ramp Swim.  Enter each event separately to be part of this event.
  • Family entrants will be automatically entered in  the Surf Coast Community Cup as a special Category in the 8km and 4km events where we will select the family that completes their event and best represents the spirit of the Roo Run.

  • Anglesea and District Community Bank Grommet Gallop and Starfish Nippers Run - An U12, 1.6km Beach Gallop from Boat Ramp to The Point and back, looping around the start of the Coastal Walk to finish at the AMYC boat ramp.  YeeHaa!
  • Who knows - this could be the first race of the next Cathy Freeman!  Even if it's not, every kid wins a prize to add to the fun and encourage them on the healthy pastime of running. Starfish Nippers  with their carers are entering again this year and we look forward to welcoming them.
  •  The Rusty Anchor Bar - Back for the Summer, the Rusty Anchor Bar is open right after the Roo Run! Come and join us for an ice cold refreshment after the race and enjoy the best view and the cheapest drinks in town.
  • NEW EVENT - This year in conjunction with the Anglesea Football and Netball Club we have a special category for the first Male and first Female from the club over the line. A great way to kick off the pre-season.

Great Ocean Road Real Estate is proud to support the Roo Run and AMYC
Great Ocean Road Real Estate is proud to have been a long supporting sponsor of the Anglesea Motor Yacht Club (AMYC) located just behind the boat ramp at Point Roadknight Beach. We love being part of likeminded local community organisations such as the AMYC, they are the true essence of Anglesea and the Point Roadknight area. The AMYC motto of ‘A Great History, Great location, Great people’ is very much in-line with our own company ethos of ‘Our Backyard-Great Knowledge, Great Advice, Great Results’ it’s no wonder our partnership works so well.

For those of you who are already members of the AMYC it will be no surprise that after many hard years of planning and approvals the original 1960’s AMYC club house is currently being extensively renovated and extended. The building is nearing completion and Wes Smith AMYC Commodore/President was kind enough to show me through what is going to be an amazing new facility for the Anglesea community. As Wes says:-

“From the outset our objective has been to maintain the ‘quaintness’ of the building and to enhance the existing ‘look and feel’ of the building. Internally we will have vastly improved kitchen facilities, new bar area, toilets upstairs and a lift, as well as an upgrade of the downstairs showers and increased storage space for our rescue boat and other summer services (Life Saving Patrol base)”. After viewing the building for myself I think that’s exactly what has been achieved. The coastline views from the Rusty Anchor bar upstairs are as dramatic a sea view you’re likely to find anywhere in the world. You can check out the progress of the upgrade on this link https://littlesnitch.io/001/
The club house due for completion this Christmas with the famous Rusty Anchor Bar back in full swing this summer. If you’d like to become a member feel free to peruse the AMYC website and register your interest at  https://www.amyc.net.au  You’ll be glad you did.
See you all at the ROO RUN on the 27th December.
